The Latest News...

After many years of breeding my lovely goldens, I am going to be retiring.  I have some lovely, well-trained dogs that are up for adoption.  They range from 5 years on down and are available now.  I will charge a fee according to their age to ensure they get a good home.

The Kennel and property in Farmington Hills are now for sale. If interested, please contact me at gabrielsark@aol.com or call me at 248 626 2243.

I have enjoyed the many people I have met and have become good friends with many of you.  After over twenty years, I look forward to less "work" but it was such fun work!!  I hope to keep in touch with many of you!

With much affection to all of you, Micki

Golden Dog Blog

Welcome to my new "updated" website. I have created this for my future and past customers in order that they would be able to communicate with me and other people who have purchased my dogs. For some time I have wanted a way to communicate with everyone about things like "bad" dog foods, up-to-date info on health or anything that I feel you might like to know. Hopefully this will help and it will also offer you an opportunity to communicate with others who have purchased puppies from me. An example would be if you wanted to get all the puppies from the same litter together and have a reunion...or the same mother...like Bonnie who just turned 15 in November. I will be posting updates from time to time so please take time to read this. If you have any questions let me know...as always, if you need to talk to me please email me directly at gabrielsark@aol.com or call me at 248 626 2243.. Thanks! Micki

Caution with Douxo Seborrhea Shampoo

Posted by Webmaster in Untagged

Webmaster

The FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine is alerting pet owners to use caution with the use of an unapproved animal drug product, Douxo Seborrhea Shampoo (0.1% phytosphingosine), distributed by Sogeval Laboratories, Inc. of Coppell, Texas after recently receiving a report of the death of a woman associated with the use of the product on her dog.

The March adverse event report describes a woman with severe, preexisting asthma who had a sudden, severe asthma attack and died while bathing a dog using the product, Douxo Seborrhea Shampoo. A few days later, another asthmatic family member bathed the dog using the same product and experienced a mild asthma attack but recovered.

FDA is advising consumers with asthma or other respiratory conditions to consider consulting with their physicians prior to use of this product.

FDA is currently investigating this serious issue and will provide additional information as appropriate.

To report an adverse event involving the use of animal drug product, please go to: http://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/SafetyHealth/ReportaProblem/ucm055305.htm1

A recent groundbreaking study of clinical, histological and immunological data of 22 cases of  Pemphigus foliaceus, or PF, shows evidence that it can occur as an adverse drug reaction to the canine flea and tick preventive ProMeris.

PF is the most common spontaneously occurring autoimmune skin disease of dogs and typically displays as lesions on the face, nasal planum and ears. The reaction is rare but serious, says the study’s lead author, Thierry Olivry, DrVet, PhD, Dipl. ACVD, of North Carolina State University.

Sigrid moves to Ft. Lauderdale...

Posted by Izzyoaks in Untagged

Izzyoaks

Saturday, March 19, 2011–– Sigrid is snoozing peacefully as we're flying along here on Delta at 35, 000 feet heading down to our home in Ft. Lauderdale.  She was the hit of the Detroit airport, as people kept coming up wanting to see the puppy.  One fellow even took a picture of her to show his wife.  The TSA agents in security fell in love with her and she was a major distraction for them as I took her out of her carrier and carried her in my arms through the metal detector.  Of course, everyone getting on the plane had to stop and pet her on their way to their seats.  She's a charmer! Thanks for all your kindness and help in preparing her to travel with me!

Tuesday, March 22, 2011––Sigrid is doing great!  She and Izzy are getting along well; Izzy growled at her once and Siggy flopped onto her back, which seemed to be what Izzy wanted to see her do. Now they are fine with each other and Sigrid doesn't bother Izzy (too much).  We went for a walk together last night and they were good partners, although Siggy thinks it's fun to run under Izzy and tie the leash around her legs!  Our sense is that she's very smart.  She certainly has a calm demeanor and is very easy to live with.  She now knows what to do when we say "Siggy, go potty" and we have had only one mistake in the house.  Also, she's already caught on to "no bite" and "let's go home."  Anyway, we're thrilled to have her here with us!  Thanks for raising her so we can enjoy her and make her part of our family!

Happy Birthday Riley

Posted by Sue in Untagged

Sue

I have two goldens from Micki and love them dearly.    My first one, Riley had his 14th birthday yesterday.    He is the sole survivor of his litter and still going.   I have been giving him treats for years now that have glucosamine in them along with glucosamine supplements.   I think between the glucosamine and having a new brother, Murphy,  who will be two in June has kept him moving.   Having the two dogs is a lot of dog, hair and work  but they do keep each other company and the younger one follows the older one everywhere.   Plus, I think Riley has helped train Murphy which is a plus all the way around.   Thank you Micki for two great dogs and hopefully Riley will see more birthdays.
